Preparing for Patch 3.3

It is now official! Patch 3.3 is live on servers. The Totally Rad Guild will be getting into this content in 10 man as soon as the servers come back up, and 25 man on Wednesday. There is a lot of preparing to do for the patch, and the quicker you get your class changes under control, understand the new badge system, and try some of the new content, the better. As it’s a procrastination day for me, I thought I would type up a little preparation guide. This by no means is meant to be exhaustive, but simply as a point in the right direction. Hopefully everyone has already read this information (mostly from MMO-Champion), but I have a feeling that’s not the case across the guild. So, here we go!

First thing you need to do by Tuesday is read of over the patch notes, specifically for your class. Do some research to find out which talents have been changed, and if you will need to switch them around. For most DPS classes, Simulationcraft has some great PTR numbers for you to look at while deciding. Make sure you are ready to respec, reglyph, etc. I suggest using your offspec to practice a bit with the new rotation. The latest patch notes can be found here, so find your class and read up!

Second, understand the new badges, as well as the Tier 10, and how to obtain it. Again, read through the MMO-Champion Tier 10 page, and view your class models from wowhead. Check out the different methods of obtaining [Emblem of Frost], which will be used to get the first tier of the Tier 10 armor. To upgrade to better versions of tier 10 will require a [Mark of Sanctification], and a Heroic [Mark of Sanctification]. They will be broken down into group as they were in Ulduar and Naxxramas. (Paladin, Priest, Warlock…Rogue, DK, Mage, Druid…Warrior, Hunter, Shaman)

There is a new faction to get reputation with, as well as buy items from. The Ashen Verdict is a new faction introduced with the Icecrown Citadel raid instance. Under a pact by Tirion Fordring and Darion Mograine, the Argent Crusade and the Knights of the Ebon Blade have set aside their differences during the attack on Icecrown Citadel until the Lich King is slain.

There are three 5 man dungeon being released in patch 3.3 too, which contain some great lore leading up to the ICC raid. The dungeons are Pit of Saron, Halls of Reflection, and The Forge of Souls. Dungeon loot listed here. You will recieve 2x [Emblem of Frost] for doing a random heroic through the new cross server LFG system, also going live in 3.3.

Here is a breakdown is the different gear levels available once 3.3 drops.

The Frozen Halls (5 Man)
219: Normal
232: Heroic

Icecrown Citadel
Level 251: Normal 10
Level 264: Heroic 10/Normal 25
Level 277: Heroic 25

Icecrown raid is by far the most exciting thing coming in patch 3.3. Looking through the Raid & Dungeon Achievement list gives us a good insight into what to expect, like [Shadowmourne]. Take a look at the incomplete loot list, and start getting your wish list compiled, so you know what to roll/bid on. I know I’m already drooling for [Dislodged Foreign Object]. ICC will be released in a tiered fashion, read here. This means we will only see 4 bosses when the patch first goes live, they are:

Lord Morrowgar

Lady Deathwhisper

Deathbringer Saurfang

Gunship Battle

Be sure to watch the strategy videos so you know what to expect going into each encounter.

By no means what this complete, and you should really do some extra reading before Tuesday to be best prepared for ICC and the other great additions coming in patch 3.3. The patch is downloadable in, what many believe to be int’s entirety, through the background downloader. So avoid long waits on Tuesday by downloading it early.  If you see anything that I really should add in, or maybe something that I got wrong, let me know in game!
