Re: New possible pc
Which one did Allepac recommend?
The ASRock one looks pretty cool.
The RAM clock speeds won't matter unless you set them in the mobo BIOS.
The ASRock board says it supports 2133 and higher OCing, so my guess is you wouldn't have to mess with voltages much, if at all. If you do have to mess with it, it will probably work with what the RAM says to set it at.
If you get the 1600 RAM, you don't have to OC your mobo. If you get the 2133 RAM, and you don't want to OC your mobo, you can set it to 1600 and still have headroom to OC later if you want to. Also, I think the 2133 ones look pretty awesome, even though it doesn't really matter.
So yeah. Either set of RAM is fine. It doesn't really matter much which one you pick, as you aren't an OC junkie.

if i set the ram to 2133 or 1600 would i really be able to notice a big difference in between everyday computer use and gaming?

The ASRock temporarily costs less on Newegg (over microcenter): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813157293
I think both boards look good. It looks like the Gigabyte one has more ports, but my guess is you won't have all the slots and ports taken up anyway. You could pick either and do well, but I'm leaning more towards the AsRock one because it's less expensive.

GIGABYTE or GTFO.
Never looked at RAM when you sent that to me cause it was so cheep. But go 1600. and buy Corsair.
Quality and support over cheep. That's how I roll.
And I still stand by i7 too

Yeah, I think the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H is going to be a better buy than the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H
The differences I notice:
1. Price point (+UD3)
2. Slight difference in PCI-E slots, not noticeable (+UD5)
3. 5 x SATA 6Gb/s VS 2, doesn't matter much because you only have 2 storage drives, probably won't matter (+UD5)
4. Different onboard audio chipset, probably won't matter (but I don't know)
5. Slight difference in USB and eSATA, not noticeable (+UD3)
6. UD5 has a firewire port.
7. UD3 has a PS/2 port. (I'd rather have a PS/2 than a firewire)
8. UD5 has two ethernet Gigabit LAN ports, UD3 only has one. (+UD5)
Most of the differences are very slight, except the price point. I'd go with the UD3 any day of the week.

Re: New possible pc
I'm assuming you mean 3570k, and not 3550k. The 3550 is the older version (gen 2, sandy bridge) of the 3570k (gen 3, ivy bridge). To summarize, 3550 to 3570K IS worth the extra $20 or so. Going from 3570k to 3770k is not worth the extra $110.Crazyheals wrote:if im just using the pc for gaming and everyday normal use is there any reason to get 3770k i7 over the 3550k i5?
There are a few differences between the i5-3570k and the i7-3770k.
Hyper Threading doesn't give a good benefit for most programs. A lot of people disable it if they do have it, and that's the main feature and selling point of getting the 3770k.
The only other things I see different is a higher clock speed and a larger L3 Cache, which isn't a big enough increase to warrant costing that much more than the 3570k.
EDIT: I made a mistake. The i5-3550 is an Ivy Bridge, not Sandy. I recommend sticking with the i5-3570k. The differences are:
1. 3550 has a lower clock speed.
2. 3550 doesn't have an unlocked multiplier, which means it is harder to overclock.
3. 3550 has worse integrated graphics.
I think it's worth it to pay the extra $20 or so for a higher quality chip and the unlocked multiplier.

Re: New possible pc
RAM is on backorder on NCIX. Here's the Newegg link, in case you want to order before it restocks. It's $4 more, but comes with a free USB cable! Hooboy: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820233143Crazyheals wrote:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ax2J
